Choose One Issue

However you decide to contact your representatives in Washington, it helps to focus on a single issue for each communication. For one thing, it allows you to gather your thoughts so you can keep your communication concise and to the point. At the same time, staff aides in your legislators’ offices may only tally constituent communications by individual issue, rather than by multiple subjects. So give yourself a break. Keep your head from exploding and focus on one issue at a time. And remember: Personal anecdotes resonate with legislators, so don’t be afraid to talk about your self, your concerns for your family, your neighbors, and your community.
